Get to know the team a little better…

Sean Ryder

Managing Director

Previously a qualified electrician, Sean retrained as a Biomedical Technician and has been teaching Biomedical Technicians for eight years. He is married to Alison and has two stepdaughters. In his spare time, Sean enjoys sailing, travelling and is also a keen photographer.

Robert Shutt

Biomedical Engineer

Rob has been teaching Biomedical Technicians for six years. He grew up in Africa whilst his parents worked at a hospital in Uganda. He loves to keep fit and is an avid reader of world history.

Alison Ryder

Finance Officer

Alison has worked for the NHS for 32 years, predominately as a GP Practice Manager.  She is married to Sean and has two daughters. When she has a spare moment, Alison enjoys musical theatre, walking and travelling.

Tom Crampton

Apprentice Technician

Tom joins Optimum Biomedical as an Apprentice. He is on a five-year training program, after which he’ll become a trained Biomedical Technician. Tom will play a key role in all biomedical training courses, both overseas and in the UK. In his spare time, Tom is a keen sportsman with special interests in badminton and dodgeball. He also spends some of his free time challenging friends on online video games.

Kenedy Chia


Kenedy is a professional translator and dedicated translator for any of our courses in a French-speaking country. He also works with Optimum Biomedical on documents and learning material. Kenedy lives in Cameroon and has served as our translator during two courses with Mercy Ships.
